Outside of what I do with American Gymnast, I work in one of the most challenging industries when it comes to trying to stay in shape - the airline industry. I am a pilot, and like most pilots, my schedule can be rough at times. In a typical summer month I may spend 4 days on the road, come home for a few days and then repeat. While on the road, you can have up to 14 hour workdays, spending 8 of it in the cockpit and the rest hanging around small airports trying to avoid the most unhealthy food you can imagine. Once you finish with the day, you wind up at a LaQuinta Inn (free continental breakfast!) so exhausted that the last thing on your mind is trying to squeeze in a workout.

If you are involved in some form of athletics, whether it be gymnastics, crossfit, triathlons or even just working out, it's quite possible you love the competition or results aspect (if we are speaking of just working out in the gym) of your sport and maybe have a love/hate relationship with the training aspect.

I received so many great comments on the video of 61 medicine ball exercises, it persuaded me to go a little further with it. Everyone loves a challenge and I saw no reason why I shouldn't turn this in to one. Why not go after all 61 exercises in one workout without a break? I decided it was a brilliantly insane idea so I immediately headed over to the gym to give it a shot. I brought my wife along, a list of the exercises and chose a 15lb ball (looking back, maybe a little over-ambitious with that weight choice). After a quick warm-up and stretch, I got started. I rolled through the first 20 exercises and thought it was going to be a fairly easy ride to the finish line. Suddenly the burns started setting in and began to get pretty intense. It started with the abs, worked its way down to the quads and then on up to the shoulders. By number 45, the majority of my body was on fire! The end was in sight at number 56, but I made a mistake with my exercise line up, allowing all the pushup sets to pile up at the end. My wife was filming and calling out the exercises to me and didn't realize this. Here is the full video. It's very long but it's pretty entertaining if you skip to the last few minutes to watch me suffer.

I’m happy to say I finally finished our video containing a large number (61 to be exact) of medicine ball exercises you can do at home. The video is meant to show you some exercises you may not be familiar with as well as the proper technique for each one. Choose a subgroup of exercises from the master list and do about 3 to 5 sets for each exercise, with 15 seconds rest between each giving you about a 30 minute workout. It will probably require at least 9 different exercises. So maybe try to break it up in to 3 groups of 3. Rotate between the first group of three doing 3 to 5 sets (I usually stick with 5) for each exercise. Then move on to your next group of three and so on. If you need to add a few more at the end, then go for it! If you power through it, you will get a phenomenal workout, I guarantee it! Mix it up and you can get many different workouts out of this group of exercises. In case your routine goal is to drop some pounds you can combine it with one of the best appetite suppressants to help your diet.
