Besides the larger amount of power required to perform a layout reverse hecht compared to a piked reverse hecht, the main difference between both skills is given by the way the bar is cleared during the flying phase. A true layout hecht clears the bar in a straight or hollow position without exhibiting any obvious hip flex.

This is a nice arabian layout example. Notice how the twist is completed early. A twist after the vertical is a back lay out with a half. It belongs with the acrobatic element backwards and will not be considered part of the arabian element group IV like this example does.

The Yurchenko layouts follow the same principles required for all other round-off entry vaults. The hurdle should move up and forward. This gymnast has some problems to refine during her round-off; a round-off flying phase that could be more hollow instead of piked. Her arms bend a little too much on the vault. As a result, she leaves the table late. Notice the dive to a round-off with the hands touching the floor almost at the same time. Watch another example from a different angle. Observe a yurchenko layout performed by an elite athlete.
